Bottle, 22oz, shared by bergstaden. It’s pitch black in the glass, with a dense, dark beige head of moderate size. The aroma is coffee-filled, with oatmeal biscuits, dark chocolate, heavily roasted malts, nougat and a touch of dried fruits. It’s super-smooth, silky perhaps, and full-bodied, with a nice bitterness level. Both hoppy and coffee-ish bitterness. The flavor has perhaps a bit too much bitterness, especially in the finish. Roasted malts, coffee, hazelnuts, dark chocolate and some dried fruits and tobacco. Everlasting roasted, coffee-ish and bitter finish. A lovely one indeed, pity it’s so bitter in the very end. 170311

Bottle 650ml @ geokkjer
[Courtesy of bergstaden] Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, nuts, vanilla, coffee and kind of peanut butterish. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long nutty, dark chocolate, vanilla, roasted and lots of cold bitter coffee finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. A bit to much coffee in the taste for my liking but still a nice beer.

Dark beige head, creamy, over black beer. Sweet, chocolate, very roasted, but not a hint of a suggestion at bitterness in the nose. Sweet nuts. Taste however is dry, more coffee, roasted, and a sweetish, dessert-like finish, as crème brulée or café Liegois with mocha. Bit earthy too, but always sweet (ish). Well-bodied, but aftertaste comes on thinner, drier. Well-carbonated. Not bad, but too sweet for my full approval.

Taste comprises sweet malts, chocolate, biscuit, nutty, peanut butter, light roast. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough stout.

Keg at the bottle shop bermondsey. An opaque black / dark brown coloured pour with a lasting creamy tan head . Aroma is sweet peanut butter milkshake and shaved coconut, vanilla, creme caramel. Flavour is composed of bitter black malts, slightly ashy dry roast, dried cocoa, and more sweet and rounded milky roast, creme caramel and peanut butter. Palate is medium bodied, not too sweet either, airy frothy carbonation, and a drying slightly astringent finish. Good beer.

650ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, thick, creamy, mostly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Sweet-ish, nuttily and chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of white coffee, vanilla, a touch of roasted nuts. Taste is dry, nuttily, slightly roasty dark malty, hints of roasted nuts, white coffee, a touch of vanilla. Stops right before reaching the artificial marshmallow and hundreds and thousands regions.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a very dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is very sweet with huge vanilla and chocolate ice cream. The flavor has a little burnt marshmallow, vanilla and dark chocolate. Lots of burnt character here. Maybe some graham cracker too. Like an overdone smores, only not as sweet. The bitterness and roast mingle and last in the finish. Moutjfeel is medium and fairly creamy. Decent.
