Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is fruity hops, dark malt, roast, tropical notes, citrus, orange, hint of chocolate. Flavour is moderate sweet with a bitter finish. Do I detect a faint sour touch? Medium bodied. Enjoyable Black IPA, unmistakably Belgian, bit rough around the edges here and there, but good.

Funny little thing. It is by far not a black ipa. Stout with a Belgian twist. Typical Belgian yeast touch. Dark malt, fruity, vinous, roast and licorice. Pleasant evening sipper. Fine bitterness.

330ml bottle. Clear, dark brown colour with ruby glimmer and huge, frothy to macropore, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, beige head. Zesty, citrusy hoppy and chocolately dark malty aroma, notes of tangerine zest, lemon, some grapefruit, a waxy touch. Taste is bitter hoppy and chocolately malty, notes of grapefruit, lemon, tangerine zest, sweet-ish, chocolately basis; slightly overcarbonated.

Bottle 330ml. @ home. [ As Het Nest Four Aces Black IPA ].Clear dark brown colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, moderate to light light heavy hoppy, citrus, spicy, light pine - spruce, moderate yeasty, belgium yeast, licorice - anis seed. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, roasted, fruity hops, citrus, spicy, ash notes, medium dry, light yeasty, light licorice - anis seed. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20180220] 7-4-7-3-15

Bottle at home. Clear dark reddish brown with big creamy beige head. Lime, coffee, roast, light grapefruit. Quite some citrus notes here, with soft pineapple, blueberries and strawberries. Underneath there’s the coffee/roast and soft minerals and earthy notes. Medium sweet and bitter with a hint of sourness. Medium bodied with over medium carbonation. Pretty decent black IPA, great value for the price!

Flaska från belgiuminabox. Coca cola bun med högt ljusbeige skum. Doft som domineras av rostade aromer av fudge, chokladkola, sötlakrits och lite alkoholvärme. Även i smaken dominerar söt rostad malt även och lite fruktig humle finns där också och spelar fint mot malten, särskilt vid lite högre temp. En old school BIPA som är helt ok men som inte imponerar med pigg humle.

Black brown colour, beige head. Aroma of caramel, cacao, light hops. Sweet flavour, malts. Sweet cacao finish. Honestly reminds me more of a cross between a porter and a Belgian dark ale than a black IPA. Not bad though, not bad at all.

Voici une Black IPA particulièrement fruitée. Le résultat est d’ailleurs plutôt agréable avec une fraîcheur au rendez vous, une belle amertume et des arômes maltés et houblonnés qui se marient très bien. En verre, nous somme sur un brun lipide (EBC de 136) avec une mousse beige d’un centimètre d’épaisseur. Plutôt plaisant. Le nez se porte sur la fraîcheur, alliant café, agrumes et petites notes de praliné. L’attaque se démarque d’emblée par un fruité important autour des agrumes, de la pomme et de l’abricot, l’ensemble porté par une amertume saillante. L’ensemble, très frais s’accompagne d’une base maltée bien construite conférant des arômes de café en bonne harmonie. La deuxième bouche dévoile davantage la base maltée avec la café qui monte en puissance. L’arrière reprend l’attaque avec cependant un alcool qui se dévoile légèrement. La troisième bouche, linéaire laissera alors place à un final qui aurait pu être plus long, mais appréciable, toujours sur cette alliance fruits/café mais avec une amertume légèrement plus saillante. Celle-ci est d’ailleurs bien dosé avec un EBU de 64 à l’instar de l’alcool à 7 % Abv. Le sucre quant à lui est sur la limite haute mais pas surdosé. Beau résultat au final. Nous ne sommes peut être sur un carré d’as, mais sur un bon brelan.
