Treated as an imperial style of a brown ale, we both opted for tulips.
My take: the appearance was a dark amber close to brown color with a finger and a half’s worth of eggshell white foamy head that fell off at a decent pace. Messy sliding lace.
The aroma had some brown sugar, caramel, dark fruits, light vanilla/slight marshmallow, a little bit of chocolate and a little bit of roast.
The flavor yielded to the sweet side at first and then opened up into a nice smooth dark bready content that blended fairly well. Not much of an aftertaste but had a nice crisp sweet bready finish.
The feel was just a tad under medium in body with a fair sipping sort of quality playing with a fairly low carbonation. That didn’t bother me since there seemed to be some grip from the noted roast in the aroma.
Overall, really nice imperial brown ale well worth my time, however, I did miss the maple portion that I heard was supposed to be in this.

Draught at the brewery, 5/21/16.
A glassy-looking dark amber-mahogany, with a beige head atop that is small and rather feeble.
Lots of milk sugar in the nose combining with caramel, raisin, vanilla, easygoing roast and light brown sugar-like suggestions. A touch of lactic quality, as well as some brown bread-like notes provide some balance. No alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth, it’s low in carbonation and a bit loose/watery at times, with simple sugars ranging from brown sugar, to table sugar, to maple and so forth. Not punishingly/cloyingly sweet or anything, but there’s not a whole lot to it other than various sweet notes. Some bitterness on the end and light phenolics is pleasant enough but the texture still drinks like a 5% brown ale (light to medium bodied with some sugary/syrup-like notes). Fine and certainly accomplishes what it intends.

Light brown, reddish edged and slightly hazy. The aroma is great. Distinctively a brown ale. You do get a small sweetness. Maple feels weak. Maple certainly present in taste sweet without being too creamy. A more bitter brown ale than I was expecting
