Modernism is inspired by the Czech black lager tradition. It features a deep complexity from the decoction process and a hop schedule typical of Bohemian beers. Notes of dark malts, bittersweet chocolate and caramel dominate. The finish is dry.

Draught @ Dive 96 Bar, Manhattan. Clear reddish brown with a small foamy beige head, faint caramel aroma, high carbonation, bitter roasted malt taste, thin body, long burnt malt finish. Smooth and bitter.

Draft at Gulu Gulu in Salem. Really dark brown color, tan head with good retention. Aroma of dark cocoa and dark roast coffee. Taste is lightly burnt edpresso with a mokka edge. Full mouthfeel. Delicious

On tap at The Three Monkeys in NYC. Dark brown pour. Creamy tan ring. Roasted malt nose is mild. Flavor is roasted malt, earthy grain and Baker’s Chocolate. Smooth and flavorful. Spot on interpretation for the style.

On tap at Off Site. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong cocoa and dark fruit. Slick body, chocolate, roast, light dry finish, very nice.

Can. Pours clear chestnut, large creamy beige head, lasting, good lacing. Arooms is roasty, caramel, tobacco, hint of ash, leather. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, huge roastiness. Merlin body, creamy mouthfeel.

16oz can from Tavour. Black pour with a small foamy beige head. Roasty malt aroma wafts up upon opening. Taste is roasty, light bitterness, mild sweetness and faint chocolate. Creamy feel. Highly enjoyable.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear dark brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma is roasty malt with a nut note. Med body. Flavor matches the aroma, tho there seems to be a bit of chocolate lurking in the mix. Pretty dry. Moderately bitter. Nice flavor.

Can shared at tasting with Johnny and TomHendriksen. Nice autumnal red brown color, small beige head. Aroma and flavor are malts, malt bitter, light caramel hints in the distance. Not bad.
