Taster pour at the source. Appearance is opaque black with thin ring of beige head and fair soapy lacing. Aroma is roasted malts--almost burnt--and the bitterness of the coffee. Taste is milky, roasted coffee bitter. Palate is full bodied with smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation with finish as taste. Overall, the lactose and oats provide nice smoothness and a bit of sweetness but the bitterness of the coffee dominates, but pleasantly so.

Bottle from Craft Beer Cellar in Portsmouth, Nh. Green sticker that reads 2014 097, guessing this is a best before date. Aroma is really tempting. Oats, coffee with cream and light roast.

Body is chewy texture with some oats. The flavor is similar to the aroma just much milder. Hints of coffee bean, bakers chocolate and light caramel. Very thin body with some bitter coffee finish.

Bottle from Bert’s Pours a solid black color with a good sized creamy tan head that persists for a little while. Aromas of chocolate, creamed coffee, and roasted grains with a hint of sugary sweetness. The flavor follows the aroma, creamed sugary coffee with hints of caramel and chocolate. The coffee is very well balanced and compliments rather than distracts. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a slick creamy mouthfeel. This is a very nice brew, I’m impressed. Light easy drinking flavorful brew.
