This dark and devious brew reflects a resinous and sticky fusion of intense bitterness, big roasted barley flavors, and powerful dank aromas. Made with huge additions of five hop varieties and seven malts to create a bold flavor profile.

Draught at Beer Witch, Smallish head, opaque black colour, aroma of dark bread, chocolate cake, roasted notes, shrubs, malty flavor, meaty notes, whiff of dates, noticable shrubby bitterness. Nice, not too refined.

16 ounce can. Opaque black color. Incredibly dense, foamy tan head. Chocolate malt aroma is subtle. Hints of burnt toast and pine. Flavor upfront is bittersweet chocolate, black pepper and sticky pine. Exceedingly bitter in long resiny finish. Really well done.

Pours black into a tulip. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Licorice and chocolate aromas. Dry, with dark chocolate, soy and licorice front to back. Lasting earthy tree bark and charred coffee grounds finish.

Roasty, bitter, dank. Don’t see a lot of these black IPA beers anymore. This is an exceptionally fine rendition from 🌞.

Bottle from the Warren Store. Very roast ash black, decent 1 finger coffee colored head.Everything I liked about Lawson’s Toast IPA but more ash, cream and burnt oak. Very roasted aroma and taste, loaded with piney hops. Best split 2 ways if via the bomber. Still a nice beer.

Keg at Prohibition Pig - Waterbury, VT. Pours rich brown with a thick, lasting beige cream head. Strong roasted malt aroma with punches of raw coffee. Light to medium sweet flavor with loads of dark roast malts, coffee grounds, bitter baking cocoa, earth. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. More robust, burnt malts on the finish, some charcoal, more hefty coffee, torched earth, bitter chocolate and hints of orange rind. Very rich with lots of bitter cocoa.
