Location: Draft at RnH, 4/2/10
Aroma: Nose is mostly fruits, orange, other citrus/tropical fruits, some pine too
Appearance: Pours a caramel color with a small foamy white head
Flavor: Taste is pretty sweet for the style, some bitterness from the citrus/pine hops there too
Palate: Medium-full bodied with a somewhat oily mouthfeel, and a nice drinkability
Overall Impression: Overall this is a pretty solid IIPA. It leans sweet, but has a very nice flavor. I liked it, another nice offering from Bear Republic. A nicely made brew.

@Magnolias–on cask-pours no head and hazy gold/amber color. Aroma is pine/some citrus hops [cascade], some light/medium malt. Taste is lemon/some orange-citrus/pine/herbal hops, some sweet light/medium malt. Minimum carbonation.

Draft, The Bistro, DIPA Festival. Mildly disappointing but not bad. I was more disappointed that neither of the Bear Republic beers at the festival really wowed me. This beer was enjoyable in its own right but a bit overshadowed on the day. 11 has more malt presence than I was expecting. The flavor is mostly a fairly standard pine and grapefruit mix of hop notes. The specialty malt brings some sweetness, but it’s fairly tame. There just wasn’t enough going to stand out from the pack. It’s an amber-colored beer, rather dark for the day, with an off-white head. Good bitter finish. This one is listed at 100+ IBUs, which is significantly higher than I would have guessed.
