Music inspires us daily. We listen to music in our restaurant and in our taprooms, on the packaging line, in our offices, and on our commutes. From Sinister Kid to Headroom, examples of musical influence can be found tracing back to the beginning of Trillium. Early visitors to 369 Congress Street were often greeted with indie rock sounds of Cambridge's Passion Pit. Their breakout single, Sleepyhead, is the inspiration behind our latest offering, Begonia Skies.

Brewed with passion fruit and lactose, Begonia Skies is our first Sour IPA. Presenting a striking orange with a soft, glowing haze, a blend of tropical tones bursts out of the glass, shifting from passionfruit and pineapple to orange juice and papaya. Sweetness, acidity, and bitterness are all in balance, no sip shifting too far in one direction. Soft and plush on the palate, Begonia Skies is a lively and approachable Sour IPA.

Can shared in NJ - big thanks to drsandman. Pours cloudy yellow-gold with a small, foamy off-white head. Tasty, with lots of guava, lemon, tangerine. Lightly tangy. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with more lightly tart citrus fruits, lemon, papaya, pleasant guava. Solid.

I don't think sour IPAs are for me. This one pours a hazy, pineapple-orange color, with minimal head. Aroma is truly bursting with tropical and citrus fruit. Flavor is citrus and tropical fruit, with a touch of sour. I guess the lactose keeps it from being too sour. Just a a touch of bitterness in the finish. I wouldn't want to drink this all the time, but getting a chance to try it was fine.

Pours murky orange into a tulip. Bright white head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Passion fruit, pineapple and citrus aromas. Dry with sweet passion fruit pulp and tangerine peel upfront turning to bitter pith before the lasting bitter apple (the actual product that you put on furniture to keep dogs from chewing) finish. Hmm... too fruity upfront and too bitter on the finish for me...
