Bottle at a gas station in Bulgaria. Regular Zagorka is one of my favorite Bulgarian beers but the Gold version I don’t enjoy as much. Very light in flavor and body. Pours clear yellow with a faint, fizzy white head. Small aroma of caramel and corn. Flavor is lightly sweet but has only mild bitterness. Light in body with average carbonation. Finishes semi-crisp and short. Not terrible.

bottle, pours gold, medium white head. Very light nose, corn and a light skunk aroma. Crisp mouthfeel, lots of sweet malt and adjunct flavors with no bitterness to balance. Boring.

Canned (as Zagorska G40 more gold, but I guess it may be this one?). Thanks to hammenlind for bringing lots of Bulgarians to RBESG 2006. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is hops and sweetish malts. Flavour is malts, diacetyl, salt and some hops. Papery notes also. Very watery palate. 3 2 2 2 4

(Can 50 cl) Comes as "Zagorka G40 Gold". Clear, pilsener golden with a nice, white head. Discreet malt aroma. Medium-bodied with notes of brewing cereal and cardboard. Almost no bitterness. 260806

Pale yellow in colour. Clean, bready. Low bitterness. Thinner than Zagorka Special, but also less sweet and more well balanced. OK standard lager.
