Making rye while the sun shines - as the proverb sort of goes - is about acting fast, seizing the moment, grasping the opportunity. Marmalade makers know only too well the notoriously short life of the seville orange and capturing that zesty, sweet, perfumed moment is all about timing. Providing the shade to the orange sunlight is the bready spice of rye and golden promise which perfectly balances the sweetness of the orange juice and zest. A final hit of orange zest then creates that glorious afterglow.

Keg at BrewDog Tower Hill. Grainy and malty aroma with a sweet edge. Medium amber. Creamy off-white head. Light bitter before reflecting the aroma. Medium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Relatively abrupt finish. Enjoyable and surprisingly low key for the ABV. A warmth is just building up.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - batch 634 - BB 24.09.2019, from Alko, 20190118) The beer poured amber and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had sweetness, grass and alcohol. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, grass, malts, alcohol and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, boozy and bitter. An unbalanced boozy brew.

Bottle from Pezinska Pivna Pumpa This bastard is actually master of disguise. You wouldn't say at any stage you are drinking something with ABV 9%. It's very easy and pleasant to drink. Sweetish, with load of cutrus notes, orange and so... no ginger though, but solid bitterness. I like it.

A dark orange beer, a head is small and blond. Aroma has fruitness, citrus, peach, mango. Taste has tropical fruitness, peach, fructose, at least medium bitterness, maybe some ginger in the end. Medium+ bodied. Feels too heavy. Otherwise quite nice.
