Bottle to glass at Spread in Campbell. Pours a clear amber-orange (more amber) with an ivory head. Aroma is malty and no hop presence. Taste is full biscuit malt with minimal hop. This is a fine beer, but not really an IPA. In any event, cheers to a CA brewer for making an English IPA and not just a massive west coast citrus bomb.

Tap at the brewpub, fall 2013 - This brew has a copper color with a lingering off-white head. It features orange and grapefruit aromas. The flavor has good bitterness with earthy and citrus notes. It’s medium bodied and alright though I’m not crazy about it. It may be that the hops don’t seem crisp enough for me.

Bottle. Hop is detectable a foot from the pour. Citrus hop to me. Hazy amber copper color with a fine, frothy off-white head that leaves lace, and it sticks around. As the glass approaches the nose the hop seems floral. Thin body. The first hop seems piny, then after a bit it seems floral. I only really noticed malt in the finish at first (maybe that’s why it’s thin; low malt). Repeated tastes establish malt following the initial hop. Maybe there’s some stone fruit tucked in with the malt, but so is there fruity hop here? And where did the citrus and pine go? In the finish the hop seems to come on strongly floral. Realy a nice product. Good representative of the style.

Bottled. Clear dark amber. Light grapefruity hop aroma. Sweet with soft but syrupy mouthfeel. Only moderately hoppy and the aromas are restrained. Medium bitterness.
