A big malty winter warmer, with rich caramel and dark fruit flavors, balanced by the spiciness of Chinook hops and a touch of rye malts.

Bomber from BevMo Salinas. Nose is sweet dark raisins, with bits of brown sugar, chocolate, and yeast. Clear, very dark rusty brown, with a medium heavy lacing, long lasting, beige head. Flavor is moderately bitter, lightly sweet, with some chocolate and fruitiness.

Bomber from the Arden BevMo. Pours dark brown with a foamy light tan head. Aroma of a brown ale (chocolate) with a little spice and rye. Med body. Flavor is primarily chocolate. There is a rye touch, but hop spice is pretty mild. Approaches Imperial Brown, but ASA? That’s a reach. Still, it drinks ok.

As Mavericks Old Soulstice Winter Ale. Bomber from Bevmo in Sacramento. Hazy dark amber pour with a low frothy beige head. Warm aromas of caramel, dates and spice. Near medium body with moderate carbonation. Flavor is roasted caramel, a little light fruit, and some balancing bitter. Not at all heavy. More of a spicey pale ale than anything. Finishes slighty bitter, a little astringent. Good drink.

On Tap@Toronado, San Francisco. Murky brown looks with a slight tan rim. Sweetish aroma with some roasted malt and dark fruit notes. Flavour seemed a little muddled with quite an earthy quality to it; some spice and roasted malt lurking but nothing really stood out. Bit disappointing overall.

Pours a deep chestnut color with an off-white head that disappears quickly. Aromas of rich, caramel malts, and a hint of hops at the end. Tastes of full malts follow through to a full mouthfeel and raisins. The mid-palate seems to lose the malts but they return on the finish, which makes the beer seem unbalanced for a bit. Sweet malts linger and stay on the lips.

Draught at Toronado, San Francisco. Clear nut brown, minimal head. Fruity with some bubblegum and nutty roasty malt. Medium bodied with notes of ginger and raspberries. Low bitterness. A discretely spicy beer with some hefeweizen characteristics.

Draft. brownish beer with a low off-white head. Strange aroma of playdough and some spice, but it also has a bit of not-quite-vinegar (not a horrible vinegar that denotes an off-bear though). Low malty flavor with some spice and backing playdough. Just not that good.
