With an awesome floral nose, & fresh hop flavor, "The Purple" is one of the most sessionable IPA's out there. Beer Advocate calls it, "A damn solid IPA".

Bottled. Pale amber, brief head. Grapefruity nose. Sweet and caramelly. Medium bodied with butter and caramel coming from the malt. Hops provide resin and lingering bitterness.

12oz bottle-pours a thick off white head that laces and gold/orange color. Aroma is citrus-lemon/orange zest hops, secondary medium malt. Taste is citrus-lemon/orange zest and some pine hops with slight bitterness, secondary medium malt/grainy/some husky-caramel. OK carbonation.

A hazed amber ale with a thick creamy dark off white head. Light hops and caramel aroma, light orange marmelade. In mouth, a decent grapefruit hop attack followed by biscuitty malt, a bit thin, but honest IPA. Bought this at CJs, Potsdam, 1.59$.

Kind of pale for an IPA, but I poured it in a really thin glass, so that just might be my perception. Nice head. Standard IPA fruity smell. A nice balanced amount of hops. Falls right in the range of hops that I like to see in a beer. Definately not a sweet IPA like some others, which have both hops a a syrupy sweetness. Nice medium body.

2004 draught at Carambola in Waltham. Served in a shaker, appearing a rusty orange, moderately bright, light chill haze with a small off-white head. Aroma of floral hops; fresh, light and mildly fruity (orange, lemon, tangerine). Flavor is moderately hoppy, no over the top bitterness, everything quite controlled. Light malt sweetness through the body with some dry, quick finishing hops on the end. Light fruit notes throughout, mostly dry, hint of yeast.
