Our signature porter, brewed with oats, has a soft, velvety mouthfeel with layers of chocolate and roasted malt on the palate. The ominously black appearance belies this porter’s approachability; Pot & Kettle is satisfyingly smooth and nourishing, but never lumbering or heavy. While not sweet, dark fruit notes, such as cherries, dates, and raisins, reveal themselves as the beer warms.

Bottle sampled @ HopisHop B.U.M.B. 2016. Black, little tanned head. Nose is lightly vegetable thick syrup coffee, sugar, faintly herbal fresh coffee with thick cold coffee syrup. Taste is faintly raw vegetable fresh coffee in largely a good way, very big sweet cold coffee, tonka beans, sugar, interesting coffee profile, raisin, sugar, malt. Body is coffee, sugar & tonka beans. Unusual but pretty good with a big interesting coffee profile despite containing no coffee apparently.

Keg at Omnipollos Hatt, Stockholm. Dark brown, creamy beige head. Milk chocolate and coffee up front. Really sweet with medium-full body and rounded, somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Loads of caramel, chocolate, and coffee with too much sugar. Syrupy finish with some coffee bitterness. Way too sweet and caramelly.

Draught at Omnipollos Hatt. Opaque black liquid with medium light tan head. Aroma of coffee, licorice, bitter chocolate, light grain, light ash and toast. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of licorice, coffee, chocolate, light and and light sour malt. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Pretty nice. Good coffee notes.

Got in a BIF from tasterschoice62. 750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/14/2016. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted oats, brown bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of vanilla, coffee, molasses, raisin, and date. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted oats, brown bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of vanilla, coffee, molasses, raisin, and date. Light hop/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted oats, brown bread, and nuttiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a fantastic roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Very light roast dryness as well. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an incredible English porter style! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth, rich, and easy to drink. A seriously amazing offering.

Deep Ellum’s first Trillium draught in about two years! Hell yeah. Deep chocolate-brown-ebony with a big, light tan head with good retention.
Soft chocolate and earthy roast giving a strong coffee character. Light chocolate, bread, sweet caramel and honey. Fresh yeast and no alcohol or flaws.
Sweet, very unctuous milk chocolate and very strong caramel character. Very c-malt heavy, unsurprisingly, but the texture is still soft and richly malted, with mostly tight carbonation but yet a bit of wateriness on the end. Pretty drinkable. Could probably use a bit more bitterness to balance, as it comes off a bit sweet and liquorous. Dusty cocoa, fresh yeast, coffee and very light hop bitterness lingering. Pleasant for sure.

The beer is black with just a tiny bit of brown at the edges. Creamy beige head. Roast, caramel, some mild dark fruit. A little bit of chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet, moderately dry finish. Caramel, cocoa, more of the same mild fruitiness. Creamy body, relatively low carbonation. Fairly sticky. Definitely an oatmeal porter.

Aroma has a noticeable oatmeal note. Medium light roast note with light chocolate character. Medium to medium light dark fruit esters. Hints of caramel and toffee. Pours dark brown, not quite black with a thick, dark tan head that recedes to a small film that lingers, thicker on edges. High lacing and smallish legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with a nice balance of roast and chocolate, both showing through nicely. Medium light dark fruit esters with a fairly strong oatmeal character. Medium bitterness and slight alcohol spice. Hints of caramel, toffee and butterscotch. Mouthfeel is rather full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Fairly sticky, though it does dry out a bit in the finish. Sightly creamy. Overall, a nice porter but also just a porter. A lot of oatmeal character with some nice roast and chocolate. Secondary dark fruit notes with fainter caramel and toffee. I feel I prefer a regular, less sweet porter.

750 ml from my friend Sara W. Dated sticker that reads 11/20/14. Nice looking thick tan head sitting on a pitch black Porter. Aroma is dark chocolate, flaked oats, molasses and burnt sugar, nice!
The body of this Porter is thick and chewy with a substantial creamy texture across the tongue that turns into a dry ash hint. Nice coffee character through the sip with sugar and cocoa. Wow... Well made.
