(bottle, 33cl) Clear, light-amber colour with a short and off-white foamy head. Heavily peat-malty and ashy aroma which makes me think of a particular Hebridean island, as well as some iodinic accents, which both do not leave much room for more impressions. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Almost sugary malty start with traces of caramel and again very peat-laden flavours combined with ashes; sweet peaty, ashy and slightly iodinic finish with shades of caramel. An uncompromising brew, not too complex. The retired version at 5,0% abv was much more balanced. 22.IV.16

"Gourmet-Flasche": Deep golden, a bit unclear, wuickly collapsing loose off-white head; distinctive aromas of burnt rags and peat in the nose, ashes of wood underneath, sweet caramel as well; moderate to solid sweet flavour with a low bitterness, medium bodied; peat and burnt wood and ashy traces in the sweet caramelly finish, very faint bitter traces in the aftertaste. 33cl bottle from Bierothek Bamberg. Pours clear amber colour with a mid-sized good lasting beige head. Aroma of peated malt, whiskey, burned plastic, wood. Taste of peated malt, sweet malt, caramel, wood, whiskey, strange stuff!
