On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Rossa intensa, con riflessi bruni, schiuma bianca media. Al naso note di frutta rossa, vinoso leggero, acetico. In bocca è impegnativa, acida decisa con una nota acetica. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Interessante.

Bottle shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Pours a clearish, mahogany color with a small bit of foam that sits. Tart cherry, light vinegar notes and faint vanilla as it warms. Oak and cherry on the palate with more vinegar notes on the palate. As it warms some light baking spices become apparent. Light bitterness on the finish.

At libf 2017. Thnx for sharing ! Pours black, no real head. Smell is sharp, black berries rather than cherries, bit that might just be the combo. Some dryness. Taste is full, sharp, sour, intense. Not bad.

At LIBF, apparently a kind of barrel aged porter with real black cherry juice added. Moussy, creamy, dense, yellowish pale beige head, very dark hazy burgundy colour, almost black in general appearance. Strong, expressive nose of indeed a lot of lovely ripe cherry juice, dust, old furniture, pear peel, cola, oaky ’vanilla’, elderberries, blue cheese, red wine vinegar, black tea. Intensely fruity onset, lots of ’black’ cherry juice again but also very reminiscent of blackberry juice, tart and drying the palate due to its acidity, which is then beautifully embedded in a rounded, soft, caramelly and nutty malt sweetness with softly bittering edges; carbonation is ’finely’ sparkling all the while, like champagne. Ends in drying tartness and woody tannins, even expressive oak notes (vanilla), some retronasal cheesiness and an earthy, deep, soft, herbal hop bitterishness in the very end. I love this beer’s subtle blue cheese- and way less subtle ripe black cherry profile, this is intense tart fruit juice initially, shifting to malt sweetness and ending in perfect dryness - a complex ride of flavours from beginning to end. Stunningly beautiful, one of the best of LIBF ’17 for me.
Laatkomer bij het inchecken, maar zeer goed bier! Daarom ook maar meteen een fles gekocht voor mijn kelder :-)
