Pours black into a tulip. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Thick with maple syrup, bourbon and chocolate upfront turning to espresso and vanilla in the lasting finish.

Snow On The Maple Tree was purchased in Odessa at The Cellar in the middle of the winter. I need to break it out now before it warms up too much. Clown Shoes rarely disappoints, just some brews are better than others. Lots of potential here, maple, bourbon barrels and 11.25% abv. Let’s check into Snow. I pop the top of the 22 ounce bottle and pour into my Buffalo Bayou snifter. It arrives a deep, dark brown body with a quickly-settling sepia tan head. I am fighting allergies so the scent mostly escapes me, most unfortunate. The taste comes now, heavy chocolate, very bourbony, I feel some heat and get a nice bitterness at the end. All the nuances escape me because of my issues. I will have to try this again later for a rerate if it is still available. Still very good. One waits long enough, one gets rewarded. Following my 4/21/19 rating, now I get to try the 2020 edition of Snow On The Maple Tree after finding a stovepipe can of it at the Total Wine in Santa Fe, NM. This time around I detect the maple flavor with an accompanying sweetness and a bit of vanilla. Richer and more interesting this time around, even with the ABV dropping to 10%. Nice.
