33 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow, shortlived white head. Aroma is sour milky and distinct ginger and herbal. Sour, chili bite upfront. Dry, sour and mild fruity. Distinct chili and ginger citric finish.

A combination of Habanero Chilli and Ginger in a classic Berliner Weisse with re-cultivated Brett from old now defunct Berliner breweries.
Chilli is very potent. White lacing quickly diminishes. Very hazy like a NE beer. Utterly conplex and wonderful doughy bread, barnyard funk, hey and straw and a big kick of chilli heat which is loooong.

Berliner Weisse spiced with ginger and habañeros, steinie bottle from BeerFreakChick shared by Craftmember, thanks. Off-white, loosely knit bubbles, but quickly gone into practically nothing; cloudy straw blonde robe with greenish tinge, turning all muddy and ‘dirty’ ochre with sediment. Aroma very strongly and primarily reminiscent of gari (candied ginger, popular as an accompaniment to sushi and the like), actual ginger root too, green bell peppers, hard pear, green olives, white bread, sourdough, raw gherkin. Green apple, cucumber and Conference pear notes in the onset, softish in carbonation, lots of lactic sourness turning a bit lemony; soft doughy malt core with noticeable (and obviously expected) wheat soapiness, quickly dominated by this extremely strong gari effect, hot, spicy and ethereal – but this ginger flavour in itself is then followed by a very hot chilli heat, burning for a long time, but matching well with the ginger. The lactic sourness underneath continues and supports the ginger, but other than that, the delicate features of the typical Schneeeule Berliner Weisse are a bit lost in all that unconcealed spiciness, unsurprisingly; one could, however, say the same about the old tradition of adding woodruff or raspberry syrup to this beer style in order to sweeten it up. I think I prefer this option then, but it’s obviously a gimmicky creation and you really, really have to like both ginger and capsaicin in order to enjoy this one.

Nice nose of ginger and smooth sourness. Fresh sour beginning. Intense hot Habanero in the taste over fruity ginger. The hot chili is dominating the picture, fruity ginger sourness below. Nice combination - especially if you like chilis.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 15/10/2020.

Deutlich saurer Beginn, spritzig. Limette, wenig Ingwer, dann kommt die Habanero und macht das Bier scharf, allerdings nur im Hintergrund. Spritzig, moderat fruchtig, super ausbalanciert. Langer Nachhall, schärfer werdend. 11/13/14/11/12/12

25-11-19 // tap at Hopfenreich. Nothing compared to the Irmgard. Not that sharp sour at all. Slight unclear yellwoish. No head. Nose pf green fresh habaneros. Low carbonati on. Aroma of a nice Berliner Weisse, yeasty wildness but mellow and then a sharp spicyness in the end. Strong but quite well embedded.
