Cognac Barrel is an amber type beer worked with French oak wood and Cognac. The nose is woody, suave and the superb tan color is reminiscent of that of the famous spirit. Round, complex and rich, it appeals to all types of amateurs.

0.33 l bottle from ’Saveur Bière’. Clear, very dark red with a thin, frothy, tan head. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, raisins, vanilla, molasses and prunes. Sweet, malty taste of caramel, raisins, prunes, molasses and vanilla, followed by a medium long, medium bitter finish. Medium to full body, oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Very nice, but the influence of the barrel is quite subtle.

hazy brownish-amber colour, medium sized dense beige-ish head; aroma of butterscotch, herbal and floral notes, dried plum and figs, as well as woody and alcoholic notes; taste is the same with moderte bitterness; great barley wine!

Draught @ [ 888 Winter Camp French Craft Beer Festival ] - Malmö Brewing Co, Bergsgatan 33, Malmö, Sweden 214 22. [ As La Débauche Cognac Barrel ].Unclear medium to dark brown amber color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, bread, roasted, dark malt, wood - cognac, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, bread, wood, cognac, dark malt, sweet malt, figs, warm sweet alcohol. Body is medium - medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20160123]

Drucken på fat på Malmö Brewings franska ölfestival. En barled wine med mycket, kanske för mycket ek/fat och bourbon. Vanilj/vanillin-smaken blir lite väl överväldigande trots att det är riktigt gott. Jämte senbourbon, torkad frukt, russin, fikon, mogen banan. Gott men tycker att proportionerna är lite skeva.

Draught sample. Muddy, dark amber colour with bubbly, off-white head. Sweet aroma with cognac barrel, ripe fruits, caramel, toasted notes. Taste is sweet. Full body, with an oily feel and a soft carbonation. Finishes long lasting sweet with lingering cognac barrel. Lovely barrel ageing.

Tap@The French Craft Beer Festival at Malmö Brewing Taproom, Malmö - fuzzy dark amber coloured pour with off-white head. Medium sweet malty aroma and taste, toasty, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, dried fruity and nutty, some spices on the palate, cognac infused wooden nuances, medium sweet bitter finish. Gorgeous.

Bottle from Cave a Bulles. Pours hazy dark copper with a slight beige head. Aroma is nice treacle (tho not really much molasses) with some brandy aspects. Med + body. Flavor is brown sugar/ttreacle with some musty wood and brandy notes. There’s a little heat, but it isn’t objectionable - just a flavor enhancement. Despite the "sugar", it’s not really sugary/sweet. Personally, I think calvados barrels would have been the better choice, or at least "fresher" cognac barrels, but this is really smooth and tasty, even if the flavors aren’t "extreme". I consider myself fortunate to have found this.
