Bottle 33 cl. Pours a dark brown with an orange hue and a dense and lacing beige head. Interesting aroma of licorice roast and aroma hops blending in. Fairly rich, malty body, solid roast with an aromatic touch. Seems more roast bitter than hop bitter. The kind of Black IPA that is more like a hopped up Stout. 080618

330mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Nose brings out medium roast, some diacetyl and vegetal notes, and piney hops. Flavour is along the same lines, thankfully with the diacetyl much more buried, with piney hops and roasted malt in good balance. Actually a pretty good example of the style despite the aforementioned flaws. Pretty solid stuff.

(Kiev 2016) 300 ml. draft @ Lisopylka. Dark brown going to black indeed, creamy tanned head. Nose is big bitter roasted malt, there is vague hop but main bitterness seems to come from roasted malt, low blueberry jam. Taste is big roast, very strong & dry, all of the bitterness comes from there initially, low ashes, as it warms up, you get a little bit of cheesy hop (old USA hops I presume), lightly creamy, dry charcoal, roast. Thick syrup & charcoal body. Interesting (unintentionally so I presume take on the DIPA genre), this is bitter indeed but pretty much only due to the strong roasted malt, strange but I found appeal here, decent, a bit too simple & far too unbalanced.
