A truly unique premium lager beer produced from 100% pure malt and aged to perfection more than any other beer in the market. Deep golden in color, when poured, tiny bubbles rush to the top forming its thick and creamy white head. The well-balanced body and slightly pronounced grain flavor give Castel Beer a robust taste, making it ideal for the most discerning of consumers.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe - Clear golden yellow, frothy white head, looks as good as any Lager/Pilsener/Kölsch/Helles style beer. Nose is a feint lemony kind of tinge, taste has something similar, with a not too bad mouthfeel. Quite enjoyed this to be honest.

Appearance: Golden color with a frothy white head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: The aroma was unfortunately not very inviting. Cabbage & malt. (Mybee it was the lovely Akerselva that had some scheisse flowing by at that moment)
Palate: Medium body. Slightly sweet and a mild bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Slightly sweet malty and mild hoppy.
Overall impression: It was better than expected. Especially after that aroma. Fresh and easy drinkable.
Personal stats: Bottle from a trade with KnutAlbert. Enjoyed a lovely afternoon in Oslo by the river, together with Mr Visionthing and Mr Arve_Christian.

33cl bottle (shared by Cunningham - thanks!) Pours golden with a large, white head. Fairly malty aroma with sweet corn, cooked vegetables and hints of fruits. Fairly sweet, not much bitterness, but hints of hops and some bitterness in the finish. Medium to light body. Ok pale lager, but far from interesting. (2013-04-19)

Bottle from Beers of Europe. By no means the worst pale lager but nothing much going for it either. Pale, lager, carbonated.

33cl bottle at a bar in Djibouti. Golden colour with minimal and quickly diminishing white head. Aroma is slightly malty and sweet. Flavour is similar as aroma, with a weak final. Carbonation is medium. Body is light.

July 2011: Brown 33cl bottle (5.5% ABV) poured into a Duvel glass. Obtained from ’Beers of Europe’, bless them. Good rich golden yellow colour, usual lager bright and clear appearance, next to no head though. Slight aroma of grains, otherwise nothing on the smell front: gets my regular score of 3 for a non-smelling lager/pilsner. The taste was harmless enough, bland and lager-like, but without any real hop or malt flavours to find. To be fair, it could have been a number of different/same lagers you find anywhere in the world and in a blind tasting would have come out in most peoples top half of the scores. So a typical pils/lager with nothing wrong with it and nothing really going for it either.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Light golden colour, white head. Nose is skunked malts, vegetables, hint of corn. Pretty vile. Flavour is slightly better, sweet malted, hint of cooked vegetables. Slightly bitter finish. Not very well done.
