OUR STRAIGHT-UP STRAIN: THE ‘BLUE DREAM’ IPA
Trailblazers don’t torch a new passageway and then stop; they keep finding new ways in and new ways back out. That’s exactly what we did with our metamodern IPA conceived of hand-selected hops from down under. Malt barley and red wheat combine to create a clean malt backbone with a foolproof flavor and mouthfeel to support America’s sneak peek at Enigma, Vic Secret, Ella and Galaxy hops. The hops strum juicy and sweet aromas with headline notes of passion fruit, raspberries, pineapple and citrus. This intense, straight-up strain is Oskar Blues IPA (6.43% ABV).

Can, 0.355l. Clear golden color with large soapy off-white head, nice lacing and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of pine, pineapple, passion fruit, citrus and cereals. Taste starts with light sweet toasted and biscuit malt, following is fruity and herbal, mouthfeel is crisp and astringent, while finish is heavy bitter. Medium body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. I’m not a blues fan, but Oskar Blues IPA rocks...

On tap at growler guys meridian. Pours out golden topped with a white head. Nose is pine pineapple juice light caramel sweetness and plenty malts. Taste is more of the hops upfront pineapple citrus notes and a nice sweetness malt.

Draft glass @ Billie’s Bier Kafétaria. Hazy citrus golden, HUGE white head. Nose is soapy white berries, yoghurt, soap, USA hop, too yoghurt heavy, lacks hops. Taste is weird bitter sweet yeasty yoghurt, bread, white suga, sweet yeast, white grape, oddly boozy, far too sweet, sugar, white grape, bread. Body is the same, yoghurt, sugar. Disappointing,sweet, yoghurt etc. lacking the USA hop explotion I would expect here. Expected much more to be honest.

Draft pour pint at Beer Authority. Much like Tom, I spent a lot of enjoying this beer wondering if its the regular IPA or not. Oh well. Its a good beer. Pours a golden copper color with a thick foam head that lasts. Hoppy, tropical fruit juicy aroma. Flavor is a clean mango and citrus mixed fruit, with a lingering juicy finish. Fun beer here. 12 oz can poured. I don’t know why, but this can has a total "store brand" appearance to it. Like a Safeway Select looking can, if such thing would exist. Anyway, the beer is good either way. Huge fruity aroma. Cream body with a tropical fruit flavor. Quite impressed with this. Solid, unique IPA.

White frothy head stayed well on hazy golden, effervescent body. Light fruity citrus aroma with melon. Crisp & clean on the palate, medium bodied. Sharp. Quite a bitter IPA, grapefruit, pomelo, pith, pine and a slightly sweeter back of pineapple & tropical fruits.

Can from Beautiful Beers, Bury St Edmunds. Pours slightly hazy gold with a long lasting, bubbly white head. Aroma of citrus hops, tropical fruit and malt. Moderate sweetness, higher bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Finish is long, dry and bitter. Decent.
