Bottle from Hopduvel. New buckwheat beer with very thick and frothy, cream white, cobweb-lacing head and lightly hazy orange blonde colour with tiny bits of yeast floating everywhere; turns deeper lightly brownish orange and misty with deposit. Aroma of green apple, unripe plum, sweet banana, raw rhubarb, fresh sorrel, white bread dough, a deep sourish graininess I assume represents the buckwheat, pear, artisanal honey, dry earth, white pepper, soap, old paper, dried flowers, sweat. Crisp, fruity-estery onset, gooseberry, pineapple, pear, passion fruit, sweetish banana hint, spritzy carbo becoming even somewhat overcarbonated in numbing the tongue a bit and adding a dull sourishness especially in the beginning, followed by a smooth bready malt sweetness with a caramelly and honeyish edge alongside a deep, soft, basic grain sourishness and notable soapiness (undoubtedly the buckwheat); spicy accents too, a bit resinous mouthfeel in the end, while honeyish sweetness seems to increase a bit, insufficiently countered by a mild, floral, bit herbal, lightly spicy hop bitterishness. The honeyish malt sweetness gets the last word. Interesting and enjoyable, with certain saison-like traits, or at least it would have if it were drier and hoppier.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Joes. Hazy orange color, medium to full sized white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, sweetish, iron, a hint of candy and something a little weird I can’t describe. --- Beer merged from original tick of Sarazen Bio Blonde on 04 Jun 2015 at 15:17 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6. Original review text: Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Joes. Clear golden color, medium to full sized white to off-white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly sweet, lightly iron. Decent body and carbonation. A tad better than the regular, although I can’t really explain why.
