Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet. LCRBM 2009. The bottle looks simple, but good. The beer in the glass is red-brown, modest turbid, small head. Chewing-gum aroma. Starts very sweet and fruity like melon. Finish modest sourish-bitter, still very fruity. Very sweet aftertaste. Unusual, but good!

Little head left, over amber-red beer. Fruity, syrupy nose, like an (older), slightly ripened sweet Liefmans kriek. Sour-sweet taste, with fruity sourness, definitely cherries, but somehow not 100% naturally tasting. In the finish, clear cherry syrup, or laid-up sugared cherries. Palate is too syrupy to be fully enjoyable as a fruitbeer, medium bodied. Despite the harsh words above, it is still better than remembered from the first encounter, now +/- 15 years ago - then it was a kind of BelleVue Kriek experience. New try @ Kulminator. Similar to above, but this time unnatural flavour is more definable: cherrystones with loads of C=-N components, lending it a weird marzipan nose. Less in the flavour, as there is a real tartness, but again this almondy streak, that puts me off. Both sticky and tart, weird combination. I’ll probably never really like it. Bottle. Poured with an amber hue and a thick white head. Aroma was full of cherries, particularly tart, with a bit of alcohol like aroma. The aroma reminded me of cough syrup. Flavor began with sweet cherries but grew in tartness through out.

Bottle 75cl. @ [ Tasting by cgarvieuk ].Clear medium to dark orange red color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white red / orange head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy overriped cherry, cherry, mazipan, red wine / grape notes. Flavor is light heavy moderate sweet and moderate acidic with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090411]

Bottle with thanks to dalzale. Pour is a deep brown that is almost red, but not quite. Head is a thin layer of tiny bubbles that are as pink as they are tan. Aromas are heavily cherries... at times they come across as sweet, at times they seem tart, but they are undeniable and I can’t pick out much else. Flavor is similar, the cherry presence is almost like pie filling in that it is simultaneously sweet and tart. This is very good stuff, but it is pretty unidimensional.

Finally found a couple of bottles of this and they were worth the wait! Intense, fruity aroma. Pours a nice coppery-red color with a significant carbonated head that quickly dies down. Sweet flavor of cherry that never gets too cloying or overdone. There’s just a hint of hops and grain in the background. Easily the best fruit beer I’ve tried and probably the best beer New Glarus is currently producing.

750ml bottle. Deep dark cherry red color. Nice head that fades out after a minute or so. Light faint cherry pie aroma. This has some of the most solid dark cherry flavors of any beer I’ve ever had. Practically cherry juice with a slight bitter edge. Absolutely delicious, the kind of beer I can sip on all day. On a side note, I think its funny that a beer like this is so revered and highly rated whereas Lindemans and other sweet Lambics get bashed and dismissed as non-authentic.

Bottle thanks to JB175... Pours with a muddy brown body with a creamy pinkish head, Aroma of strong cherry, sweet syruy, more cherries, oak and other berries. Taste is cherry pie syrup, with a very sweet liquid pie element. Syrupy mouthfeel nice carbonation. Tons of flavor and aroma for a 5.1% ABV beer. Good stuff...

Courtesy of Fishingnet. Pours deep red/ruby with white head. Aroma is loaded with fresh cherries. Taste is fantastic. New Glarus has outdone itself on this one. Fresh cherries all over with a light tart note. Perfect mix between the hops and malts, making the beer not too bitter. Highly drinkable. Something you will want to sip on and enjoy for a while. Rerate update. Enjoyed some more of this beer, and truly is an amazing experience. New Glarus has hit the target with the best cherry beer that remains enjoyable, drinkable from beginning to end. Pure goodness.
