Bottle. Deep brown colour, opaque, modest head of beige. Aroma: burnt barley, roasted malts, coffee, a hint of raw water. Light to medium body. Medium dry taste. Big roastiness. Coffee. Light to medium hop bitterness.

At the source: dark brown with beige head. Aroma is roasted malts and stale coffee. Taste is coffee, hints of chocolate. Not too sweet. Kind of boring and watery.

100ml sample at the brewpub. Black with beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, oats(?). Taste is bitter coffee, more roastiness, hops. Nice one.

Tap at the brewery. Deep roasted aromas. Coffee, cocoa, dark chocolate. No trace of any sourness. Very dark brown colour. Taste is all about the dark malts, but knowing that it is hopped by Simcoe, one can find hints of fruits in the moderate bitterness. Just right balance, nothing is overdone. Very good.
