Vestige is a saison brewed with smoked German malts and noble European hops. Formerly known as “Bowie,” this is our Schlenkerla Helles inspired farmhouse ale which incorporates a touch of beechwood smoked malt into the mash and is balanced by Saaz hops in the kettle. Blonde in color with notes of smoke, black pepper, lemon peel, and earth with a dry and refreshing finish.

Draught @ Mikkeller Bar, Aarhus. Pours clear yellow with a white head. Aroma of light malt, yeast, saison yeast, light smoke, hay. Flavor is malt, yeasty, light smoke, hay ish hops. Medium body, average carbonation, light smoked finish. 060517

Draught. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Moderate malty and hoppy and light yeasty aroma. SOme citrus notes. Moderate bitter slightly smoked flavor. Average mpoderate bitter finish. Oily palate. Messy but ok.

Tap @ Mikkeller Aarhus, 5%. Slightly hazy yellow with small white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, hop, little smoke, little funk, little brett and a little lemon. Flavour is malt, fruit, little smoke, little funk, little sweet, little dry, little lemon, little sour and a little bitter.

Sample at Monk’s Kettle. This beer pours a hazy pale orange-gold color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing. Aroma of yeast, smoked malt and fruit. Light to medium body with flavors of peppery yeast, smoky malt and fruit. The finish is slightly funky yeast and malt. Above average overall.

Sampled at Red Apron Union Market pours a dark gold with creamy white head. Nose is interesting, very earthy, rotting apples, yeast, grist, couch. Flavor has the smoke, a little deli ham, rotting apple cores, honey, grilled lemon. Fairly meaty in flavor. Finishes dry and smoke isn’t over powering.
