Dark Malt and American hops unite to bring a new age of bitterness. Pithy grapefruit and resin combine with a dark chocolate and roasty coffee hit to deliver a resonating bitterness that goes beyond IBUs.

Tap at Brewdog Shepherd’s Bush. 27/08/16. Sweet hoppy aroma. Dark black, with a decent off-white head. Sweeter than expected, but still has a hoppy kick. Medium bodied. Chalky mouthfeel. Not bad. Not that interesting.

Can @ Brewdog Helsinki. Poured near black with a thin off white head. Roasty, hoppy, resiny, woody aroma. Massively hopped. Roasted malty, licorice notes, grapefruit and aah. Strong bitterness. Pretty good, but not that balanced and tasty as I expect from a good Black IPA.

Can. Black color with tan head. Aroma is grapefruit hops, some cocoa and roasted malts. Taste is the same, mostly hoppy, but some cocoa and roasted malts as well. Quite light-bodied, oily mouthfeel, no carbonation. Very good Black IPA.

Can at home in Barbados, 16th August 16. I had this in the garden straight after the Jackhammer. Pours black, aroma is hoppy, citrus, slight cocoa. Taste is citrus, bitter pith and pine, some roastiness, subtle though, similar to the Jackhammer with a little cocoa and roasted malts. Not bad, could be smoother and more integrated perhaps.

Can. A BIPA more on the IPA than the B side. Lots of hops, some roast. Fresh hops. More roast towards the end of the beer. Smooth and bitter, works well.

Taste is crisp, hoppy and grassy with some roastiness, coffee and fruits. Finish is crisp, hoppy and fruity with some roastiness and herbal notes. Quite fresh and hoppy black IPA. Tasty.

Can from Tanakaya. Drank from the can. Deep, roasted malt with a touch of smokiness on the palate with some light fennel. As it warms grapefruit and iyokan notes stand out. More citrus on the palate with roasted malt coming mid-palate and finishing off with fruity, citrus-forward bitterness. Very nice.

On tap at Stone Berlin. Black with a tan head. Fresh and hoppy with light roasted malt, grapefruit, some licorice and hay. Also some coffee in the aftertaste. A pleasant one.
