A unique and distinctive beer in the international beerbrewing scene. Sixteen is its ABV, sixteen are the months this beer spends ageing in the wooden barriques. This gives the beer a deep complexity in its flavours, aromas and color. A true barley nectar with an ebony tone, dark and dense, that once in the glass emanates unusual aromas: from vanilla and nutty notes to malted ones, finishing with strong and clear toasted and maderized scents. It has a good minerality and a gentle sweetness

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruit and prunes. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, over ripw fruits, wood, and alcohol, leading to a dry finish where the alcohol burns in the throat

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a murky opaque dark brown with a beige head. Sweet oak aroma, lots of dark overripe fruit too. Solid body, thick overripe dark fruits, some syrup and solid oakiness but also a slight tang from the barrel that is not entirely pleasant. Warming alcohol finish. Really nice. 190511

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is raisins, fruity, wooden, caramel and roasted malt. Slight vanilla too. Alcohol does come through. Bitter, Smooth fruity and wineous. Raisins, thick and dense malty. Roasted and smooth vanilla too. Smooth fruity finish. Barrolo meets Port wine. 3 Year old version. Aroma is extreme hops, solid grapefruity and mango. Smooth fruity and sweet, dense alcohol yet less than the more recent version. Smooth wooden and solid hops fruity flavoured. By far a different beer. Smooth and yet solid hoppy finish. Triple IPA with a hint of Barley Wine. Stunning. 8 4 9 5 18

RBESG 2010, bottle at Johnny’s Off License, Rome
Gushing bottle; brown color, cloudy. Nice malt aroma, caramel, with evident vanilla, light raisins. Good body strength, even if the carbonation is too high; sweet caramel flavor, with Bourbon vanilla, light leather, light liquorice, some oxidization; low bitterness, but clear alcohol perception. Interesting, maybe old, and it could be refined, but good.

4th June 2010. Bottle. The ’last bottle in existence’ - big thanks to Johnny of Johhny’s beer shop in Rome. A gusher! Cloudy brown beer, the head dying away quite quickly. Sweet malty nose. Light dry palate. Rich dried fruits and several dark fruits. Sweet Port notes. Dry crisp finish. Sophiticated and lovely.
