Prairie Gold is a dry, highly effervescent saison fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, lactobacillus and 2 strains of brettanomyces. This beer highlights the various yeasts and bacteria used to make it. Lemon, pear, white wine grapes, and a touch of funk dominate the flavor and aroma in this champagne like beer.

On tap at Stein’s in Mountain View. Pours a hazy gold with full white out. Overt spiciness and solid farm and sour aspects. Effervescent.

16.9 oz bottle poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Hazy straw yellow with two fingers of off-white head. Aromas of Brett, funk, tropical and stone fruit, white wine. Tastes of tropical and stone fruit, some sweet lemons, light funk, Brett, balanced tart acidic notes, wheat, a little white wine and oakiness. Medium body with a dry finish. Tasty sour saison.

Bottle thanks to Eric. Pours a cloudy yellow with small frothy off white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong funk and lemon zest. Thin mouth strong tart lemon and nice funk, very light, lingering sourness, really enjoyed this one.

Bottle sample. Hazy golden yellow color, fluffy white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of peppery dusty cobwebs and lemons left in attic corners. Taste has barnyard tumbleweeds and citrus. Very tasty.

Pours orange with good head and lacing. Finishes with light sweetness, a little watery. Light hay, with light florals. A little bitterness in finish as well. Tap at Snallygaster.

Bottle bought @ The Mikkeller Webshop. Pours hazy pale golden with a small frothy and fizzy goldenish white head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is smell is slightly sour, fruity and funky with crackers, pink grapefruit juice, lime juice, pineapple juice, honeydew melon, hay, dry soil, barnyard, yuzu juice, minerals, unflavoured yoghurt, lime zest and lemon zest. Taste is sour, slightly fruity and tiny funky with sourdough crackers, lemon juice, lime juice, unripe pineapple, unripe mango, hay, dry soil, lemon zest and hints of barnyard, sour milk and apple cider vinegar. Mouthfeel is crisp, dry, tart and light to medium bodied. Finish is sour with crackers, lemon juice, lime juice, sour apple must, hay, dry soil, lemon zest and hints of barnyard and sour milk. Great complex nose that’s drenched in citric acidity. Good but a pity it’s not as good as it smells.

750 ml bottle shared by jmikolich, thanks! Hazy gold with bubbly head that died quickly. Nose is lemon citrus, musty basement and oak.The flavor is a mix of tart lemons, lactic acid and lots of funky barrel notes. Also some white grape flavors. Sourness is all funky barrel, it reminds me of a chardonnay barrel aged beer. Mouthfeel is lively and the body is appropriate for the style. This was nice and my kind of sour ale. Sour from oak rather than bacteria.

Hazy piss yellow. Nose is lacto and wine tannic. Fleeting puckering tartness that pulls all of the liquid and leads a dry lemon zest sour that is not overpowering. Tannic oak and peaches

750 ml bottle purchased at the Louisville beer store. The pour is a clear lighter golden with a one inch foamy white head that falls quickly. A bunch of effervescent carbonation bubbles float up from the bottle of the tulip. The aroma is soft lemon citrus tartness, along with mild funk sour and a general grass. The taste is the citrus lemon tartness right up front, along with a soft fruit sweetness, then moves to the more yeasty funk sour in the back. The citrus tartness shows back up in the finish. The palate is light bodied, effervescent, with fine active carbonation and a crisp tart citrus finish. Easy drinking beer, Champagne like with the effervescence.

Dezente Säure im Antrunk, die sich, mit Apfelnoten im Mittelteil steigert. Wenig bitter, rund, zum Ende saurer werdend. Weiter fruchtig, trockener Abgang. 10/11/12/11/11/12
