Bottle from bartlebier. Cheers. The aroma of smoke appears when pouring, before settling in to a smoke tinged floralness. Amber. Small bubbles. Good bright white head. Subtle tastes - the bitterness from the hops is there but balanced out by the smokiness which is almost sweet. Medium bodied. Full mouthfeel, complimented by soft carbonation. Long finish. Good stuff.

Many thanks for this beer to Erzengel. Pours an orange color, small white head. Smoky, caramel, earthy notes in the aroma.

*Bottle from Bierzwerg in Greven. Nice roasted floral brew. Deep with a nice rye characteristic. Dry, fresh, hints of sticky sweetness. Nice.

Bottle from Reserva, Colmar, Alsace region, consumed at home whilst cooking Chicken Tagine with Preserved Lemons and Artichoke Hearts on the BBQ, 3rd July 2016 Pours hazy amber with a white head. The smokiness is nice because it’s subtle and works with the beer instead of taking over. A steady IPA, some slightly unripe fruit and a little pithy edge. The carbonation is nicely soft, good beer yet again from Sainte Crucienne (Collaboration, I believe) A6 A3 T7 P4 Ov15 3.5

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a big and blond foamy head. Distinctively smoke malty aroma with traces of rye bread, backed by mildly fruity hops, including citrus and a delicately tropical touch. Mildly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Moderately smoked malt upfront, covering the rye character more than a bit, backed by present fruity and delicately spicy hops; a tad slim, moderately smoke-malty and fruity hoppy finish. Nice brew, but not necessarily for the average “craft”-beer enthusiast. 07.V.16

Bottle at home. Almost clear dark copper with off white head. Ham, lots of smoked meats, lime, pineapple, smoke, ash, fudge, seaweed. Under medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied. More a German style smoked beer than IPA. Not really my thing, though it really is a well made beer, these kind of meaty malts are just not my favorite.

Bottle kindly shared by rusos, many thanks. aGolden color with medium white head. Citrus hops, light smoke in aroma. Taste, citrus hops with pines, zest, peat, rye. Medium long citrus hoppy finish. Interesting, good.

Bottle shared at a tasting. Clear golden colour. Moderate rauch in this one - enough to make it a major player but not too much for hops to shine as well. Mixed smoke character. Hoppiness is citrusy, grapefruit, pomelo. Quite good, though harder drinking. High bitterness and dry smoke-hops finish. Balanced well.

330ml bottle [friendly fired to OWL by bartlebier, thank you very much for permanently repeated restoration of Braukollektiv completeness!]. Barely clear, yellow-ish golden colour with huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Smoky and citrusy hoppy aroma: starts citrusy, oscillates between citrusy and smoky, smoke predominance in the end - notes of grapefruit, lemon and orange, some candied orange zest and a resinous touch on the citrusy side, clammy wood ashes, a touch of peat on the smoky side. Taste is citrusy hoppy, moderately smoky, moderate bitterness with a leafy touch of tobacco, notes of orange, mandarine, some grapefruit, wood ashes, minimally sweet, malty basis with late hints of rye spiciness. Not completely harmonious or fully integrated, not monolithic, nevertheless unambiguous and intending a precise objective.
