Bottle at Chris_O bottlefest 2007. Amber colour with lasting beige head. Sweetish barley sugar. Overly carbonated. Really too sweet in mouth and I can’t believe I rated it so highly given my comments.

Dark brown with some amberish highlights; small yellowish tinted head. Nose like a not-very-sweet but very concentrated maple syrup, peppery. Very dry, peppery & spicey taste, with some sweetness, liquorice-like, and a little phenolic, infection-ish backtaste. Bitterish finish. Dry, slick and quite full-bodied. Not my cuppa tea. Then, I don’t skate, do I?

Bottle at RBG Low Countries 2005 Tasting Session
Tawny body. Off-white creamy head. Nose of malts (grain). Lightly sweet, moderately bitter initial flavour. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter finish. Lightly tot medium bodied. Not bad, but not overwhelming or inspiring either.

Rerate: amber to copper color. Caramelly, bit spicy. Quite boring. Recipe change?? Would give it just a 3.1 now. Original rate from 2002: I have to say, i didn’t expect anything from this beer. And how it came out! Dark brown appearance, a bit cloudy. Fine nose with hops and malts, reminding of rochefort maybe. Malty taste with chocolat and a bit caramel hints, more chocolat i think. It really reminded me of Rochefort, only this is ’only’ 7.5 % ABV. But if you can lay your hands on this exclusive beer, i really suggest you try it, cos it’s worth the try!
