Our Leipzig-style Gose is pleasantly acidic with lime-like tartness and a little funk from our unique, indigenous mixed culture kettle souring process, all balanced by the spicy character of added coriander and a mineral-mouthfeel from the addition of hand-harvested French grey sea salt.

Single can from Trader Joe’s. Big green apple smell the moment I pop the tab. Having thought that, I see the body is golden brown like a cider. It poured a fizzy head that dissolved right away. With the bubbles gone, the smell in the glass is just a slight, general funk. Taste has good dun, with separate threads of sour pear juice. The extra sour makes me want to swallow this quickly instead of letting it play on my tongue. But there’s a milky aftertaste, maybe from some lactose, or they way this plays with added salt. Oh, yes, there’s salt here, too, just not too much to overwhelm the rest of this beer. And yes, some French cider in the follow-through.

Can. A- Coriander, lime zest, sour, subtle caramel apple, mineral water. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Very sour, tart, lime juice, salt, citrus, acidic. P- Light body, sharp texture, average carbonation, sour finish. O- Wooooooow. This was like a liquid warhead. Normally I wouldn’t go for stuff this sour but it worked. Very sour, very tart, very acidic. I think it eroded my teeth. I can’t imagine drinking more than one can at a time but this has to be the ultimate summer refresher. It’s a mouth puckering beer no doubt. Had I had this two years ago I’ve have given it a 1 or lower. Glad i drank this now, because it’s tasty!

Poured from a 12 oz can. Aroma is rather acidic with moderate lemon notes. Some light pineapple with some hints of red apple. Other tropical fruits with faint coriander. Pours a slightly hazy, copper orange color with a small, thin, white head that immediately recedes to the edges. No lacing or legs. Flavor is very acidic, woah. Lots of lemon and citrus acidity with some lactic acid, yogurt notes as well. Some lighter pineapple and tropical fruit notes. Moderately strong salt level. Light coriander. A light sweetness underneath the acidity. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, this beer is way too acidic. There is also too much salt in the beer. Very two dimensional - salt and sour with not much else going for it.

Pour is a dark gold with a small white head. Aroma is a nice lactic tart lime juice with some sweetness that reminds me of sweet tart candy. Flavor is a super tartness with a minimal salt and maybe a bit of sour green apple. This has got to be the most tart gose I’ve ever had. This is a left hook of tartness you did not see coming. I was going to give this a lower score but it grew on me a bit. The tartness fades after the first sip leaving more of a sweet brininess. Just be careful of that first sip.

Can at the hotel in Austin - picked up at Stein’s in NOLA. Pours lightly hazed gold with a fizzy-creamy white cap. Tart lime in the nose, some sweat. Lightly sweet, bracingly acidic, with tangy lemon and lime, further salty sweat, a mild herbal note. Light bodied with spritzy carbonation. Strongly tart and acidic on the finish, with ripe lemons, herbs, light bread. Lingering salt bite. A little heavy-handed, but not bad.

Bottle at Erzbierschof Monday Club. Salty and pinchy sour, like some sour candy. That impression dominates the mouth throughout. Nose is soft, some camomille.
