It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life — the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery. In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we couldn’t sustain.

Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspired them. Since we aren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

On tap @ Ghetto Something. Aroma is yeasty, phenolic, spicy and citrusy. Pours clear golden color with thin creamy white head, good lacing and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts light to medium sweet grainy and yeasty, following is herbal, phenolic and citrusy, mouthfeel is rather dry, while finish is pretty bitter. Medium body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Devotion to The Lost Abbey cannot be lost…

Bottle, slightly cloudy yellow pour, with a large white head. Aroma is sharp, and slightly pungent, with a touch of funk, and alot of wet hay, dried grass, citrus peel, light pepper, and some crisp pale cereals. nice mouth feel, lively carb. Medium bittterness, crisp, and slightly spicy, semi dry, with subtle fruit, and vinous notes. excellent stuff!

Bottle from Beer Republic. Aroma is grainy and yeasty with grassy and spicy notes, peppery estery yeast, fruity notes, touch of grassy hops, light floral, some banana and apricot. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and mildly bitter. Body is medium. Solid Belgian Ale with that typical Lost Abbey balance carrying it way above the average.

Bottle. Pale amber with a large white head. Sugary dough and lemon aroma with some stewed fruit. Some mild grapey funk. Thinnish with fairly high carbonation. Some sweet dough with lemon and grapefruit before a moderately spicy bitter end. Not bad.
