330ml bottle at 4.8%. Cloudy gold with plenty of floating sediment, small white head. Aroma of cheap grassy lager and green apples. Semi-sweet pale malts, slightly cardboardy but then a nice green apple taste comes in with a slight tang, moderately dry and bitter finish. Mixed.

Süß-herber, eher künstlicher Fruchtbeginn. Trocken herb, dann wieder künstlich fruchtig-süß, wenig süffig. Meh. 8/4/5/4/7/4

Apple beer by Grain d'Orge, which is located close to Aubel, known for its apple orchards; it is not the first time this brewery experiments with this fruit, as I vividly remember the Aubel series from many years ago (and perhaps still in existence), also using apples from the town of Aubel. This one produces a thick, egg-white, irregularly lacing but otherwise regular and dense, stable head on a clear, pure golden blonde beer with vague greenish tinge and lively sparkling all around, misty yellow-straw with sediment. Aroma of industrial apple juice and industrial sweet cider (quite dominantly so), apple-scented soap or even air freshener, white bread, plaster, hint of grass, banana peel, actual apple peel, peppermint, gypsum, chamomile. Very sweet onset, sugary even like a 'light lemonade', with an artificial, soapy apple extract dominating everything; even the banana ester is almost silenced. Medium carb, smooth, soft mouthfeel, on the thin side even for its ABV; a slender white-bready malt sweetishness runs under this ongoing apple extract, and the sugariness sticks to the teeth. Soapy, sweet, sugary finish, with this apple perfume becoming increasingly annoying; hop bitterness is very hard to find, apart from a brief whiff of florality in the very end, providing soft and late bitterishness. Chalky and soapy notes linger on. After this one, I feel like I just downed a pint of cheap and sweet industrial cider or even apple juice - this is not to be repeated. Artificial sweet apple beer, like artificial sweet kriek or something alike but with apple replacing the sweet cherry perfumes; I remember not liking the original blonde Aubel too much either back in the day, but this is doubtlessly worse.

Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een troebel bleekgeel bier met een wit schuim. Het heeft een zoete fruitge geur met wat kruiden. De smaak is zoet, appel achtig (Granny Smith), caramel en kruiden.

Bottle. Cloudy yellow/orange with a decent white head. Aroma of green apples, apple candy, a damp basement filled with old apples and some crushed lemons. Taste is apples (duh), citric acidity plus some artificial sweetener. Long lasting sour aftertaste. Strong carbonation. Refreshing on a sunny afternoon but next time I'm in the mood for an apple-based drink I'll go and grab a regular Cider.

At Pub Grain d'Orge, Hombourg. Shared with Anke.
Pours hazy yellow with a frothy, white head. The aroma contains apple, sugar, some yeast & candy; very one-sided. It tastes medium to heavy fruity/sugary sweet and light sour; short finish. Light body, sticky texture, almost flat carbonation. Just for the heck of it? Inspiration from the Floris series by Huyghe?
