Earthy and sweet with a distinctive red hue. Easy to drink despite its 11% abv pop. Flavours from the aging giving a dry, clean flavour that is mellow and smooth.

Panda thanks to Colin. A light hazed deep chestnut reddy brown coloured pour with a fine magnolia head. Aroma is rich rustic layered malts, treacle, butterscotch, autumnal, warming alcohol, dried apple, trail mix. Flavour is composed of medium sweet, bark, woody, woodland fruit, plastic, charred roast, alcohol bite. Palate is semi sweet, woody tannin, little flabby, oily, fine carbonation.

Sample (thanks omhper!). Copper colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is caramel, some wood and mild herbal tones and mild liquorice. Flavour is wooden, some herbal tones with a nice underlying liquorice kick. Some roast in the finish too.

Bottle at home, picked up from a bottle shop in Newry, 18/06/23. Deep mahogany brown with a good sized lasting khaki head. Nose is fruit cake mix, caramel, dates, raisins, prunes, dark malts, modest bourbon oak. Taste comprises fruit cake, toffee, brown sugar dusting, dates, figs, mellow bourbon kiss. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close laced with mellow bourbon and a balanced rising boost. Solid old skool leaning BW with just a subtle note of barrel.

Very dark brown with lasting head. Aroma of malts and dried fruits. Surprisingly bitter, quite roasted. Bourbon is there but fairly subtle.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear, dark, nutty brown with a warm reddish hue and a beige head. Sweet toffee and grainy malts in the nose. Rich, sweet, malty body. Again toffee and some licorice all sorts notes. Warming alcohol finish combined with slightly crude bittering hops. Otherwise an English style Barley Wine about as good as they get. 040123

500ml bottle as part of a delivery from KWM Wines, Kilkenny, Co Down. Reddish brown and translucent with a small ring of beige head. Boozy caramel aroma with candied cherry and orange peel. Sweet, sweet and alcohol laden with fruity notes before a light sherry dryness. Light body for the ABV, soft carbonation. Pretty damn good stuff.

500ml bottle @ Quarry Tasting, July 22. Thanks Jeremy for this. Hazed reddish amber appearance, off-white head. Moist malty fruitcake flavours emerging with a pleasant malt-led sweetness. As per the description it does drink very easy, drank it like a 5% beer, but surprised to see it was 11% as I finished. Pretty good, but perhaps a little thin for a barley wine.
