Naissance et renaissance ! Brassée pour la première fois en 2001, sans imaginer à l’avance ce qu’elle serait, elle ne fut pas au goût de son brasseur. Changement de la recette et des ingrédients, rien n’y fit : elle ne lui plaisait toujours pas. Elle faillit être abandonnée… L’idée de la rendre plus stout que brune et plus sèche que ronde, a fait qu’elle est aujourd’hui sa préférée.

Aroma has ripe fruits, some brown sugar and malty notes. Flavour is somewhat malty with burned sugar, ripe fruits, some orange peel and hints of spices. Good, but somehow I expected more from Rulles. I guess their strength is in blond beers.

On tap at Christian Firtal. Dark ruby brown with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of chocolate and dark malt, with some dried fruit and a cherry note. Sweetish dark malty, and fruity flavour - more roast and chocolate character than most dubbels/brunes

On tap at Haandfestival 2012. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is malt, hop, coffee, dried fruits. Flavour is dry, malt, hop, coffee, dried fruits, caramel. Medium to full body. Nice beer.

Bottle, at HaandFestival 2012. It pours a dark brown body, looking quite clear, and topped by a finger-thick beige head leaving lacings. The aroma is roasted, tending towards burnt, followed by dried fruits and some grassy, resiny hops. The flavor is sweet and lightly caramel-ish, with raisins, bitterness and some sourish hints. Medium to full body, soft and nicely carbonated. Overall, maybe a bit soft and tender, but it’s a fine brew anyway. Rating: 7-4-7-4-14-3.6. 120504
Bottle, 75cl, at TFODRBSG-12. It pours a lightly unclear, light brown body and a dense, off-white to light beige head. Quite chocolatey aroma, with some sugar, dried fruits and roasted malts. Chocolate dominated the flavor too, with some roasted notes and dried fruits as well. Toffee too. A little bitterness in the end. Full-bodied, lightly warming, which suprises me as it’s only 6.5%, and with a pleasant carbonation. Remembered this to be a more interesting beer, but it’s far from bad, just a little bit ordinary. 120818

Bottle @ Summer Gathering, Ulfborg. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are roast malt, nuts, caramel and hops. Very dry finish.
