First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Pizza Port in Solana Beach, Hop 15 was imagined and designed by Tomme Arthur and Jeff Bagby. It was to be a celebration of 15 years of "Good Beer Brings Good Cheer." So there are 15 different hop varieties that are added to the beer every 15 minutes. Over the years.

Bottle shared at Euston Tap. Pours cloudy, orange-gold with a substantial, frothy white head. Strong hop aroma with grapefruit and grass, plus some hints of malty caramel. Flavor holds citrus and caramel malt sweetness with deep grapefruit, grass and light earthy bitterness. Medium to full in body with average carbonation, warmth and a lightly resinous mouthfeel. Dries out lightly in the finish, with sticky resins, honey and caramel, pine, citrus and grass. Great stuff.

On tap at The Taphouse, pours a beautiful creamy yellow with a lush white head. Aroma of resiny hops, citrus and caramel. Flavour features prominent grapefruit and pine notes above the resiny hops, citrus and caramel. An absolutely outstanding IIPA.

Bottle from Beermerchants.com. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Aromas of toffee, caramel, butterscotch, quite floral. Great lacing. Flavours of caramel, malts, some citrus. Good hop/malt balance. Heavy- but pleasant- alcohol burn. Malty, hoppy finish. Nice.

A delicious DIPA with a ton of grapefruit hoppiness. It pours a great deep amber gold with a bubbly head. The nose is sweet candy grapefruit with caramel around the edges. The taste is citric and bitter with floral undertones. It’s like biting into a thick piece of candied grapefruit rind, sweet and citric on the outside with a bracingly bitter core. It’s thick with strong, fresh hops. The alcohol level is just right and complements the delicious hop bitterness. The feel is exceptionally smooth for such a huge-flavored beer.

Bottle, from Kris Wines, London, shared at home with Matthew. This is a straight up belter of an IPA and ticks all the right boxes. Poured a copper tinged orange colour with a nice looking white head. Nose was jam packed full of citrus hops and was hugely sniffable. Rich, full mouthfeel. As expected the flavour was laden with juicy resinous hops with magnificent tropical fruit notes. Very well masked alcohol. Supremely drinkable. Definitely da hop bomb.

Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s in Pittsburgh PA this beer poured a yellow-golden color with a medium sized white head that produced good lacing. The aroma was grapefruit and pine with a sour, tangy and almost mossy undertone. The flavor was pine and grapefruit and was somewhat sweet and tangy though a touch harsh in the finish with notes of pepper and sour nut underneath. Fairly full bodied. Nice.
