La Luna Rossa was created with an initial sour beer which underwent 2 years of mixed fermentation (lactic bacteria, brettanomycetes). Then we added cherries for at least 6 months and we blended the new beer with a small part of other beers. La Luna Rossa is an ale that can remember a Kriek or a Flemish Red Ale. It has an extraordinary complexity associated with a strong character. For lovers of this kind of beers it is certainly hard to forget.

Clear caramel colour, slight white head. Quite sour aroma, fruity, citrus, cherry, reminding of Oud Bruin. Sour flavour, citric acid, acetic, lemon peel, wood. Quite dry. Light carbonation. Tart finish, wood, vanilla and lemon peel.

Bottle from Lortica, Bologna, bottle 6478, Cuvée 2010, 2 years old, batch 2010, bb 2050
Dark amber-red color, with sparse big bubbles. The aroma reveal cherries, some Bretts, light balsamic, very light acetone. It’s mostly uncarbonated; the mouthfeel is lean; some dryish malt flavor, with Bretts, and rather strong vinegary character; medium sourness, medium fruity touch, with grapes and some grapefruit bitterness; moderate bitterness overall, with cherry tannins in the end, and quite strong astringency.
An interesting one, with aging potential.

330ml bottle. Cloudy dark amber colour with some bubbles converting into a thin layer. Tart aroma with a vinegar touch, slightly pungent, fruity hints of grapes. Taste is dry and sourish with a sweet middle line, hints of balsamico, wine vinegar, red wine, tannic acid, red onions, mustard, mixed pickles, dill; subtle, flat carbonation. Complex, flavourful, sweet-and-sour taste, nicely balanced.
