10 Month Bourbon Barrel-Aged Bearded Lady, our uncompromisingly big and beautiful Imperial Stout. Born from our Dark Arts recipe, she uses masses of magical malts to deliver deep chocolate, rich coffee and vinous berry flavours, all complemented by a balanced yet subtly spicy hop profile. Powerful, robust, intriguing: yet decadently smooth and sumptuous, the lady demands respect. The barrel-ageing softens the beer, adding rich bourbon, sweet vanilla and a hint of oak. Already barrel-aged for 10 months this beer will continue to develop in the bottle for many years. Annual Release 2013.

Draught at CBC. Still lots of chocolate as in the original brew, unfortunately the barreling have destroyed the smooth qualites and made it alcoholic instead...

Sample @ CBC. Heavy bourbon notes, almost too heavy. Also milk chocolate, vanilla and lots of roasted malts. A bit unbalanced.

Draught @ CBC’14
Aroma is quite light with bourbon notes and some licorice. Flavour has lots of salmiac and licorice. Also some bourbon tones and distant woody notes. Not the most typical bourbon-IS, but rather enjoyable.

Pours pitch black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roastiness, some bourbon, wood and vanilla. Taste is sweet, sticky and lingering roasty with loads of licorice, wood, ash and vanilla. Finish is heavy and sticky with some bourbony and licorice notes. Quite heavy but tasty.

Keg at North Bar, Leeds. Pours jet black with a thin tan head. Aromas of chocolate, booze, tar, dark fruit. Lots going on. Taste brings a woody note, dark chocolate sweetness, roasty bitter lingering finish. Lovely.

Bottle shared by James at the RBWG 2014 grand tasting, thanks! Pours black with a creamy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dark grains and bread with only a light roast and bourbon. Flavor has bitter dark grains and roasted malts with bourbon coming through for a bit of sweetness.
