This really, really, ridiculously good looking ninth incarnation of our muchly-beloved peated stout (this year aged in tequila barrels from our mates Tequila Tromba) will leave you gasping for that last breath of clean air before succumbing to the intense chocolate, roasty, shmokin’, tequila-y flavour.

(On tap) Black with small tan head. Lovely aroma. Full body with great carbonation- soft and bright. Great well balanced taste. Smoky but not over the top. Good vanilla and caramel notes from the tequila (presumably). Goes down dangerously easily.

Stupid waxed bottle. About 13C (a touch warm). Black with a tan head that settles to a cm or so. Interesting taut smoky aroma with white grapey notes, mild earthy funk, mocha, tar. Full bodied with lowish carbonation and a creamy, silky texture. No overt alcohol. Lots going on here - peaty and a little earthy, fruity, a little astringent with peppery oak, quite bitter at the end. The stout gets enough of a look in but perhaps the palate is a little crowded. Not quite my favourite of the series so far but probably the most interesting.
[edit] A second glass from the fridge, now 9C. Ha, a little more cohesive but decidedly less interesting.
