Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a bubbly dark brown head that dissipated quickly. Aroma has notes of dark grains with a strong alcohol undertone. Flavor is full of dark grains and a bit of dark bread as well. The alcohol is less present and the beer is quite smooth. A lot of sediment at the bottom.

Very dark brown beer with a thin tan head. Hard to pin down. Slightly sour like a porter but has a chocolatey character. Like a hybrid of a porter and a Belgian brown. Dry finish with a sour malt aftertaste and a little chocolate too. Unusual!

Bottle. Blackish beer with a tan head. Chocolate and malt aroma. Chocolate and rich malt flavor with light fruitiness. Medium bodied. Chocolate, malt, and light yeat lingers.

Bottled. Mahogany colour, minimal head. Caraelly and very sweet. Near full bodied with wll rounded mouthfeel. Toff overpowers everything in its way, coffee lures behind. Like a too sweet, warming cushion of toffee.

Bottled.A dark brown beer with a red shine under a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and caramel, as well as light notes of soy sauce. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of wood, caramel, and soy sauce, leading to a dry woody finish. Huge thanks to yespr for sharing.

Bottle at home ... from my GBBF haul ... rich sweet vinoues malt nose ... not really a barley wine nose ... sweet rich plums ... heavy malt ... toasted oats ... quite sweet ... medium bitter ... medium carbonation ... bit too heavy and intense...

The bottle didnt explode like most Italian brews we have opened during our tastings. This may have broken a stream of something like six in a row. It did creep up the neck as I was readying my glass. Pours dark brown with thin mocha head. The aroma is dark fruitiness and musty fruit to go along with faint molasses and earthiness. The taste is rich and slightly musty with dark fruitiness. Just after a red wine fruit flavor and tannins shows by about midway. It dries out into the finish where notes of roastiness, nuttiness and faint earthiness surface and take the experience to closure. Very nice.

courtesy of ibrew2or3. Thanks Dave for this amazing offering. Have yet to be disappointed by anything Montegioco has brewed. Pours black with beige/yellowish head. Aroma of dark fruits and barley. Taste, roasted, nice caramel malts, with notes of chocolate. Finish is yeasty, rich flavor and again one can note the light presence of chestnut that seems to characterize so many Italian beers.

Bottle. Black. A lot of rosted malts in the flavour. The finish comtains some fruit and Port wine. Not very typical for the style.

Bottle. Black. Small white head. Smells chocolate, raisin and coffee. Tastes a bit like wine. But also hints of coffee and raspberry. This is an OK beer but it has no real depth or character.
