Tasting at Ryan's, bottle
Black colour. The maple dominates the aroma. Maple and roasted malt flavour, nutty, strong alcohol component, some salty liquorice, but the coffee is too harsh in the finish, ashy.

Poured from 500mL bottle. Black with minimal light beige head. Maple and JD barrel with light coffee. The JD takes away from this. Thin for a 14.3%. Fine, but a bit disappointed overall.

375ml (thx, Matt!) @ Ryan's. Appearance: dark brown with a brown head. Aroma: maple, chocolate, bourbon. Taste: along the same lines, quite dry, lots of maple syrup, some chocolate. A bit thin aftertaste. Overall: pretty good.

375mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is pretty intense on the maple syrup upfront, followed by coffee, and subtle barrels — the JD is thankfully not too noticeable. Flavour does express the JD barrels in a spicy sense, followed by intense maple syrup that ends up dominating. There's coffee and vanilla further back. The maple syrup is still the dominant character here. The barrels layer over a slight spiciness—there's definitely not a deep complexity added by the JD; rather it just sort of tempers the maple syrup character. I prefer the base beer, but this is still delicious.

pitch black color. Amazing nose with the maple syrup, coffee, vanilla and chocolate sweet nose. Smells like I am in pasty shop. A lovely pastry shop. Tons of dark chocolate, maple, oak, coffee, full body but not too boozy, rounded, low carbonation. Tastes like an amazing dessert, decadent. Never cloying never too too sweet. The dark chocolate lingers and lingers. Just amazing
