A tip of the hat to the early Irish brewers in Dayton, this classic is as red as the kettles in which it is brewed. It has an all-around balance of malty flavor and hops with a touch of sweetness from roasted barley.

Draft. A- Candy malt, slightly sweet, grains. A- Reddish brown color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Slightly sweet, candi sugar, malty, bread yeast. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- A bit on the sweet side but overall balanced. One of the better beers I had from Carillon.

Smokey oaky sour dark fruit weird nose. Very malty. Slightly sour mouth with lots of toffee and dark fruit. Slight burnt finish. Very interesting

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a reddish-brown color with a thin light beige head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, fruit and caramel. Light to medium body with flavors of earthy malt, ripe fruit and caramel. The finish is fruity and malty. Decent overall.
