Dark: This classic beer style was first brewed by monks in the Middle Ages in order to fortify themselves during their fasting. A generous amount of malt goes into every bottle of smooth, rich Taybeh Dark Beer. Brewed in small batches in German traditional style using roasted malted barley, hops, yeast, and pure water creating a classic quality rare brew initially produced to celebrate Christmas 2000 at the turn of the century.

Drunk 04/may/2016. dark brown color, small off-white head. smells of spices, caramel, earthy, milky, light chocolate. decent smell. medium to full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of spices, caramel, metallic, watery, lightly astringent, earthy. finishes lightly bitter and earthy bitter with notes of caramel and spices. okish, smell is nice, but taste is rather unpleasant (might be a freshness related issue), bit below average.

RBWG16. Bottle pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a tan head. The modest aroma offers up dark roasted malts that are sweetened by prunes and blueberries and then it flows into mild spicy black strap molasses. The taste delivers earthy blueberry like esters as well as malts, some prunes, a modest degree of chocolate and then dark roasted malts. This is a really nice tasting roasty offering.
