Bottle. Dark brown beer with a fruity and fermented aroma and a roasted, bitter and slightly malty flavour. Overall a nice fermented and fruity beer.

750ml bottle purchased at Blue Max in Burnsville, MN. Pour is clear orange, ruby red. Gushing dirty white head. Aroma of sour funk and barnyard earthiness. Taste is more subdued than the nose, but still the barnyard sour funk. Really nice, full body. Lots of malt, and blended fruit sweetness. Everything was nicely in balance, and as mentioned, subdued. Overall an extremely drinkable beer. My favorite JP to date.

Bottle @ GBBF 2007, London. Hazy medium amber color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, sour fruit, oak, wood. Flavor is moderate sweet and light acidic with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle: Poured a bronze color with a light haze. Thick, creamy beige head lasts and lasts. Nose is initially spicey with cinnamon and cloves, turns winelike as it warms into a spicey sweet/sour. Tastes light and spicey up front, finishes with a rich woody feel. The vinous character changes as the ale warms, it seemed more balanced after about 20 minutes of warming up.

750 ml bottle. Foam gushes out as I open, carrying bits of break. Slightly sour smell. Pours cloudy amber, silky head, bits of trub in the glass. Sour taste comes through first. Some Belgian malt with a caramel note, red wine dryness. I was a little taken aback after expecting just a slightly stronger amber ale. But it is a fascinating complex American iteration of a Belgian style.
