10/09/2011 Alchimia Retail (750ml bottle). Ambrata carica, riflessi arancia e rosso rubino, schiuma color bianco-limone, poco persistente. Naso spettacolare, simile a una flemish, con molto caramello e sentore di lieviti selvatici. In bocca l’attacco è dolciastro, caramellato, quindi ha un bell’acido intenso e discretamente lungo. Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Eccellente, complessa ma estremamente bevibile.

750mL bottle, split 3 ways, pours a murky dark orangey amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of citric sour fruits, barnyard funk, some spices and red wine barrels. Flavour of sour fruits, followed by some pungent spices, potent pepper, accentuated subtly by red wine-like barrels. The spices make this a bit awkward - the absence of these spices would make this more pleasant. Quite good, with deficiencies.

Sample at SBWF 2011. Bottle. Cloudy, red/brown liquid with small white head. Aroma is a sour with notes of apples, vinegar, caramel, belgian yeast esters. Nice balance, no too vinegary. Taste is light to medium sour with light bitterness. Quite dry and very balance. Some sweet malt as well. Great taste! Light to medium bodied with low carbonation and lightly sticky mouthfeel. One of the better sour/wild ales I’ve had, usually not really my thing because of the sometimes extremely vinegary taste. This though is really tasty and balanced.

Sampled @ SBWF on September 29. Pours reddish brown with a white head. Smell is sweet and sour with vinegar, sweet malts and grapefruit. Taste is sour with some fruits. Mouthfeel is light and pleasant. Very drinkable!Re-rate. Big sample from bottle @ Oliver twist. A great sour with prominent notes of grapes, wood, balsamic vinegar and high quality red wine. Balanced, drinkable and extremely enjoyable.Original rating 3.5. First re-rate 3.9.

Bottle at Craft Beer Co, thanks to the Cad. It pours amber, with a thick beige head. The nose is malt vinegar, goats cheese, wood, light spice, redcurrant, sour raspberry and funky tart apple. The taste is light malt vinegar, redcurrant, strawberry, lemony tartness, sour apple and wood, with a surprisingly short finish. Light- medium body, sharp carbonation and light-moderate tartness. Easy drinking and great on the nose, but not particularly complex.

Vinöst och drar åt Duchesse de Bourgogne och det tycker jag är ett bra betyg. Lite snällare och med vackra ekaromer.
