2006 bottle. Brown color, cloudy. Maltaroma with a hint of cinnamon and butter. Sweet, malty but alcoholic flavor. Thin to medium bodied. Rochefort yeast?? Sugary and a bit buttery. Caramel. Pleasant, but lacks complexity and is a bit too sweet.

2012 bottle @ home, thanks to _angst_ if I remember correctly. This one kind of got lost in my cellar, so hopefully it’s ok. Pours a dark orangish brown appearance with a fairly thin tan head. It definitely has some oxidation but there are some nice citrus and dark fruit notes in the nose. Some spicy yeast in the aroma as well. Kind of dusty and papery. Body is a bit thin. It probably thinned a bit over the last two years. Yeah, there’s some cardboard but it doesn’t have a decent flavor despite the age. Orange citrus, doughy yeast, and apricots. Kind of a fun beer that sort of reminds me of a ten year old Chimay. Unfortunately this is only two years old, so it doesn’t appear to hold up as well.

Flaske 0,33l fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø Langnes. På RV124 9 Mai 13. Dyp brun. Lavt tett skum. Svak krydderaroma. Smaken vel søt. Antydning til krydder. På det jevne.

Bottle at home. Vintage 2012. The colour is golden dark amber with a small, light beige head. Has a complex aroma of dried fruit, juniper, Belgian yeast, sweet malt and some barnyard. The flavour is more sweet with more dried fruit, wood and leather. Slick mouth feel, and has a light bitterness. A tasteful, well-balanced and nice quadrupel.

Helt grei til cheddarost og sennepsdip.
