Fläschla: Deep, deep ruby-amber coloured, small tanned foamy layer, solid bitter-sweet aroma of roasted malt, vanilla and wood, raisins and illusions of brandy; solid bitter-sweet flavour, accompanied by a light acidity, full bodied, but hardly soft; lingering bitter-sweet finish of roasted malt and herbal hops with a brandy-like alcohol-burn in the aftertaste. Surely not bad, but all in all disappointing...

0.33 l bottle from 'Bierothek', cellared for almost a year. Clear, very dark ruby to black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, just slightly roasty, moderately fruity aroma of dark chocolate, caramel, some dark fruits, a touch of licorice and traces of port. Gently sweet, malty, moderately roasty, slightly fruity taste of dark chocolate, licorice, coffee, some dark fruits, some port and a touch of brandy, followed by a long, gently roasty-bitter, a bit woody, slightly boozy and a little oxidized finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very pleasant, quite well-balanced Imperial Stout, interesting barrel combination as well. Really nice!

Geringe Karbonisierung. Langer, erkennbar alkoholischer Abgang. 8/11/12/12/10/12

28-20-20 // 330ml bottle from sueffisant. Very dark. Dark roasted malts with a touch of weinbrand in the nose. Rich roasted malts with dark chocolate. A mild acidity. The malt notes paired with the Weinbrand aromas it resembles a little bit an Asbach-Cola. The portwine barrel is abit more subtle. --- Beer merged from original tick of Imperial Stout Vintage 2019 on 28 Mar 2020 at 23:23 - Score: 7. Original review text: Very dark.
