500ml bottle, now in brown glass. Pours clear yellow gold with a thick white head. Grassy and earthy aromas, very light citrus and bread. Taste is light bitter and light sweet. Light body, quite high carbonation. Easy drinking.

Small white head, fed by very fine carbonation in pale foxy-orange beer; Leafy, with the unmistakable sulphury Marston’ yeast stamp, fresh (sulphury) yeast and bread, sewer water (in a VERY mild way). Very British nose. Mild-bitter sulphury (very remarkably so), with then straw & grainy-like faint sweetness following, but reverting to true UK hoppy bitterness in the finish. Light body, feels more carbonated than it looks. Remarkable! I’ve never been a great fan of Marston’s (cask) ales, but this bottled boys’ beer is actually quite to my liking. Pity about the clear glass abomination.

Bottle from Tesco’s. Poured a clear medium amber with a thin frothy white head. The aroma is fruity rich and a little malty leading to a medium bitter flavour with a spicy pepper malty palate. It’s a very drinkable beer that needs to be served cool. I prefer the cask version. No surprise there.

Quite elegant.
