An ancient beer style brewed with roasted malt and a small amount of hops. This beer originated in 16th century Bavaria and is now making a well-deserved comeback as a traditional lager around the world.
Our Dark Lager is brewed using five different malt varieties that boost the body with rustic and lightly bitter undertones.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival, 7 Oct 2016) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of roasted malt, dark bread, coffee and chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, caramel, roasted malt and a gentle roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.

Backlog, from bottleNice CO2 release when opened, poured straight down a nonic pint glass to release some CO2 and build up the head.Semi big beige colored head that is lasting. Clear dark brown color. Some coffee, roasted, very light vegetal notes in scent. Roasted, malty, a tad dry, bitter taste. Light vegetal, then roasted, malty and light wort like aftertaste. Lingering bitterness. Medium, though a tad light, mouthfeel, perfect CO2 (lagom, go Swedish...)Medium bitterness that perhaps is noticed a bit more evident than in most lagers. Feels rather attenuated, sulphur notes that bothers a bit, though more acceptable in a lager, a tad to marked bitterness. Light aromatic hop character in the taste as well. All in all a very nice dunkel, much more to the German than Czech in style, feels like something that would go very well with food.

Flaska från SB. Aningen mörkare än cola, lågt krämigt skum. Fin rostad doft, nybakat mörkt bröd. Mjuk och rund, ganska torr, fina rostade smaker med lite mjuka kaffesmaker. Torr avslutning men endast lätt beska. Gillar att den är lätt, ganska torr och lite frisk för att vara en mörk lager. Riktigt trevlig.
